Executive Director’s Message: Year in Review

Steve_headshot

2013 has been a ground-breaking year for the new Performing Arts Centre – literally! This past July, we saw the arrival of the crane on site, preliminary excavation work and the start of construction on this major project for downtown St Catharines. On August 15, Bird Construction poured the first cement foundation and in October and November we have seen significant on-site structural work, with slabs poured and the rise of venue walls.

As 2013 comes to an end, I would like to express my gratitude to all of the people involved in helping build the PAC. From the design team at Diamond Schmitt Architects, to those on the ground; the entire crew at Bird Construction, to all of the people working behind the scenes at the City, as well as all of the various contractors and suppliers who are helping turn this project into a reality.

I would like to thank all the gracious PAC donors to date, whose generous donations are contributing to the downtown revitalization and support of Niagara’s art and cultural legacy. Special thanks to Peter Partridge for kick-starting the PAC fundraising campaign, Marian Gordon and Edward Kendall, Algoma Central Corporation for the PAC’s first corporate donation, followed by Cogeco Cable Canada’s generous contribution and promotional support.

Over the last two years, I have enjoyed getting to know all of the talented people and organizations that make up Niagara’s arts and cultural scene. I look forward to seeing the PAC showcase local and national talent, and contribute to creative and economic growth. I am excited to begin another year, as we countdown towards the grand opening in the fall of 2015.

Wishing everyone Happy Holidays and […]
